Welcome to Waypoint Memos
In navigation, a waypoint isn’t the destination itself, but a point on the map that confirms you’re on the right path.
I see investing the same way: a continuous journey of intentional decisions. Each choice to buy, sell, or re-evaluate is a waypoint. The memos are my logbook for each one. They are a written record of the research, rationale, and expectations.
This public logbook is my way of practicing investing as a craft. It’s a mindset focused on the process, not just the outcome. My goal isn't to chase followers; it's to become a better investor.
This philosophy leads to a patient, long-term strategy. I focus on high-quality companies with durable competitive advantages and trustworthy management, aiming to compound capital over the long haul.
By sharing my process, I hope you find something useful for your own journey.
A Little About Me
My name is Graham Hawes. I'm a CFA Charterholder with experience in both sell-side equity research and buy-side manager due diligence. My most valuable lessons, however, have come from studying great investors and making my own mistakes, the very process I document here.
